One Liverpool star now looks set to stay after holding talks with other clubs. A dramatic twist.
Alisson Becker’s future is up in the air right now. Liverpool triggered a clause in his contract to extend it by one season but it’s still set to expire in 2027.
Giorgi Mamardashvili, plainly signed as his successor, has played more and more this season with Alisson struggling against injuries. It's led to a situation where that extension clause may only be in order to get value from a sale.
Interest from Italy is fierce and there have been constant reports linking Alisson with a move to Juventus. They’re plainly very interested in the Brazilian but it now appears that a deal won’t happen.
Juventus have been the most-likely destination for Alisson but Tuttosport now claims that their hopes are all but over. They can’t justify the €8m per year in wages that the goalkeeper wants.
If Juve can't justify it, it's unlikely that anyone else in Italy will. They've essentially been the only club strongly linked with a move.
They've now held talks with Alisson's group and come to the conclusion that moving on to a new goalkeeper it best. That keeper will likely be David de Gea.
And so as things stand, Alisson won't be leaving after all. He'll remain with Liverpool.
Alisson Becker: Situation Summary
Season Stats and Injury Update
As of 22 April 2026, Alisson Becker has made 25 Premier League appearances this season, recording eight clean sheets and an 81% pass completion rate. He has also been instrumental in the Champions League, keeping four clean sheets in six matches. However, the 33-year-old is currently recovering from a hamstring injury sustained earlier this month. Reports from 22 April suggest he could resume team training later this week, with a target return date of 3 May for the away fixture against Manchester United. In his absence, Giorgi Mamardashvili has provided significant competition for the starting role.
Contract Status and Transfer Rumours
Alisson’s future at Anfield has become a major talking point following the news that Liverpool triggered a clause to extend his contract until June 2027. Despite this extension, reports on 18 April indicate that Alisson is "open" to a move to Juventus, who have reportedly offered him a three-year deal. With club legends Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson already confirmed to be leaving this summer, Alisson could follow them if a suitable fee is met. On the international stage, he remains Brazil’s undisputed number one and is set to lead the Seleção at the 2026 World Cup this June.
