Bad news for Real Madrid. Arda Guler and Eder Militao both suffered hamstring injuries and will miss the rest of the season. The Turk suffered the injury in his right leg, while the Brazilian’s is in his left. Of the two, the central defender’s injury is more worrying, as his presence at the World Cup is in doubt.
Both players were injured against Alaves. Militao noticed it straight away and asked to be substituted, while Guler was not substituted at first because of this problem. However, the Turk’s feelings in the last few hours have not been good and that is why the club decided to give him an MRI scan which determined the injury. It is the first injury suffered by the talented midfielder so far this season.
Doubts with Militao
With Militao, the feelings at Madrid have been a rollercoaster. The player’s body language did not bode well, but Madrid sent a message of calm at the end of the game. “It seems that he has noticed cramps,” said Arbeloa, who did not comment on the time of absence but did reassure about the time, hoping that it would be a short time. The tests, however, have detected a serious injury.
With the Brazilian now planning the World Cup doubt, because there are three muscle injuries that he has had this season. The first, in November, left him out for two games, but in December he broke with tendon involvement and was out for four months, with 24 games of absence. Militao reappeared just a month ago, with the tie against Bayern as the objective. He fulfilled it, but just a week after falling to the Germans, he broke down again.
Güler's case is different and they are confident that his recovery is on the right track and that he will have no problems to be at the World Cup. He is a regular for Turkey and no one expects him not to be there. The problem for Militao is that so many injuries in recent years have caused him to miss many call-ups and his physical condition generates doubts in such a short tournament.
