Serie A giants Milan suffered another damaging league defeat against Sassuolo and the atmosphere is starting to turn weirdly grim.
As Domenico Berardi and Armand Lauriente put in the dagger against the Rossoneri, they remained well in third in the table, failing to take advantage of Napoli’s 0-0 draw against Como on Saturday.
La Gazzetta dello Sport take note of the negative atmosphere after the game. Rafael Leao was booed when he went off earlier in the game and while he didn’t react to the manager as he has in the past, the entire squad received the wrath of the fans after the tie ended.
The players were about to head to the fans after the result but soon at that point, the intensity of the boos increased. Captain Mike Maignan soontold his players to retreat, as the squad ended up not engaging with the supporters.
This wasn’t appreciated by the crowd, as the players returned to the dressing room. There was no exchange when the team bus left, but this is a big sign that there is a growing gap between the fans and players.
Milan have won only one of their last six league games and this came right after a big 1-0 win over Inter. It had given fans hope of a potential title-charge but this poor run of form has snatched everything away.
