The defender is widely expected to move on at the end of the season, with clubs including Inter, Milan, Juventus and Napoli all interested in making a €25m swoop.
This is because his contract only runs to June 2027, and his agent repeatedly stated that Lazio have not contacted him to discuss a renewal.
Gila played in last night’s 2-1 victory over Pisa at the Stadio Olimpico and his message on Instagram today seemed to be reflecting on more than just the end of the current campaign.
Gila message to Lazio fans and teammates
“Dear Laziali, we say goodbye to a very important season in my career, certainly not in terms of results, but I was fortunate to live these moments with a truly incredible team,” wrote Gila.
“I gave everything for his badge and am truly proud of what I became here at Lazio.
“First of all, I want to thank all my teammates for the support we gave each other in the most difficult moments, for the unforgettable memories we experienced together, and also for the daily ones that make every day happier.
“I want to especially thank my partner for supporting me in the toughest times, and above all for giving me the greatest joy possible in my life: our family. I love you Eleonora.
“And finally, I wish to thank the legend of football that is Pedro. You leave here, I know you have a bitter taste in your mouth at not being able to win something, because this is what makes you so special: humility, the courage and desire to always win, which you passed on over the years.
“We thank you and I thank you for being by our side during these five years. We’ll miss you a lot, Pedro. You were a very important reference point.”
Pedro’s contract expires on June 30 and he is not going to sign a renewal, but is also not expected to hang up his boots just yet either.
Gila has been at Lazio since 2022 and this season made 36 appearances between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
