La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that Milan owner Gerry Cardinale wants USMNT star Christian Pulisic to remain at San Siro beyond the summer, but contract talks with the 27-year-old are stalling.

Pulisic’s future at Milan remains uncertain, as the American’s contract at San Siro expires in June 2027 and negotiations with the club have not progressed in recent months.

However, according to Gazzetta, the Rossoneri owner, Cardinale, wants to keep Pulisic at San Siro as the ‘new symbol’ of Milan in 2026-27.

Pulisic has not scored a goal for Milan in 2026, and it’s no coincidence that negotiations over a new contract beyond 2027 have stalled in recent months.

Pulisic currently earns €4m per season at San Siro, and, according to Gazzetta, the winger’s entourage has demanded that his wages be doubled.

The Rossoneri won’t offer as much, yet Pulisic can aim for a salary similar to those of Rafael Leao and Mike Maignan, around €7m per season.

Pulisic would get an even more central role in the project if the Rossoneri hire Mauricio Pochettino as their new coach.

Milan havealready held talks with the Argentine, who will leave the USMNT after the World Cup.

Pochettino, a former Tottenham coach, is not the only option for the Rossoneri, who are looking for a replacement for Massimiliano Allegri after failing to qualify for the Champions League in 2025-26.

Milan are looking for a new coach, as well as a CEO, sporting director, and technical director, after Allegri, Giorgio Furlani, Igli Tare, and Geoffrey Moncada were sacked on Monday.

Regardless of the new Milan coach and directors, however, Cardinale’s input will be to advance negotiations over Pulisic’s extension, with the club owner eager to closely follow developments.
