With the end of the season fast approaching, the focus turns on the clubs set to feature in European competitions next season, including those that share an owner like Chelsea FC and Strasbourg. According to L’Equipe, the two BlueCo-owned clubs will be able to compete in the same European competition next season.
The outlet reports that BlueCo has set up a blind trust in dismissing Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart out of Strasbourg’s board to prevent any conflict of interest.
Given Chelsea are 7th in the Premier League standings and that Strasbourg are through to the Coupe de France and Conference League semi-finals, it is not outside the realm of possibility that both of the BlueCo-owned clubs could compete in the 2026-2027 Europa League.
L’Equipe adds that, depending on Strasbourg winning the UEFA Conference League and finishing 7th in Ligue 1 with Lens winning the Coupe de France, a record number of eight Ligue 1 clubs could play in Europe next season with the eighth-placed team qualified for the 2026-2027 Conference League play-offs.
