Malang Sarr (27) has completely turned his career around since joining RC Lens, and he could now be set for a return to the Premier League, as per a report from Foot Mercato.
Sarr saw his contract at Chelsea, where he had become an outcast, terminated back in the summer of 2024. He joined Lens, and after a season of playing as part of the rotation, he has asserted himself as the key defender at the heart of Pierre Sage’s back three this season. In all competitions, he has played 31 times for Les Sang et Or this season.
However, this could be his final season at the Stade Bollaert. His contract with Lens ends at the end of the season, although there is an option for a further year. Retaining Sarr may be difficult, given that, as per Foot Mercato, he is attracting interest from some “big” clubs from the Premier League. There is also interest from Saudi Arabia.
The defender himself is weighing up his future and Lens have not given up trying to retain the player. Attempts to secure a contract extension are ongoing.
