Barcelona veteran hits special milestone in win vs Getafe

All signs point to Robert Lewandowski leaving Barcelona in the summer, and while many saw it coming well in advance, the development does sting.

After all, the Polish legend arrived at the club back in 2022 when the Catalans were at their lowest. From there, he has been a crucial pillar in the rebuild and acted as a guiding presence to the youngsters in the dressing room.

Of all the clubs the striker has represented in his career, Barcelona is the club where he played the years when he was expected to be past his prime. The numbers, however, are surprising.

More dominant than in Dortmund

As reported byMundo Deportivo, Barcelona’s game over Getafe officially saw Lewandowski’s stint in Spain overtake his stint at Borussia Dortmund in terms of the number of games played.

Since arriving in 2022, the veteran striker has played 188 games for Barcelona as of the win over Getafe. In four years at Dortmund, he made 187 appearances.

His time at Signal Iduna Park was at the beginning of his career, before his move to Bayern Munich. In the 187 games there, he scored 103 goals and thus averaged 0.55 goals per game.

For Barcelona, however, he has scored 118 goals in 188 games, averaging 0.62 goals per game. The statistic, needless to say, is astounding and proves that Lewandowski has been more lethal in the final stage of his career than he was at the beginning of his career.

What remains the highlight of his playing days, however, is his time at Bayern Munich, where he spent twice as much time (eight years). In that duration, he played 375 games and scored 344 goals at 0.92 goals per game.
