Barcelona forward Ferran Torres is set to take on a major leadership role for the Spain national football team at the upcoming 2026 World Cup.
In what is a significant recognition of his growth and consistency, SPORT reports that the Spaniard is expected to serve as the third captain, behind Rodri and Unai Simon.
It must be noted that the 26-year-old is enjoying arguably the best season of his career under Hansi Flick, showing maturity, sharpness, and a level of consistency that has made him a key figure both at club and international level.
A permanent place
For Spain head coach Luis de la Fuente, Ferran is a dependable presence.
His ability to play across the front line, combined with his work rate and understanding of the system, makes him an essential part of the squad heading into the World Cup.
All this means there is little doubt that he will be included in the final 26-man list.
