Barcelona’s elimination from the UEFA Champions League may have ended their European dream, but within the dressing room, the mood is far from one-dimensional.

What followed the 2-1 victory over Atletico Madrid was a powerful mix of pride, frustration, and lingering anger over how the tie unfolded.

As per Mundo Deportivo, despite the disappointment, there was a strong sense of unity within the squad, boosted by the presence of club figures Rafa Yuste and Joan Laporta, who made their way into the dressing room to personally support the players.

Barcelona’s performance, especially in the second leg, was full of intent and courage.

The players believed they had done enough to overturn the deficit, having already shown their ability to fight back once in the tie.

That belief only grew stronger when they thought they had found a decisive moment again, only for Ferran Torres’ goal to be ruled out.

In that moment, pride turned into frustration.

Yet, both Laporta and Yuste chose to focus on the positives, urging the squad to stay confident in their direction.

Their encouragement was shared by Hansi Flick, who reinforced belief within the group.

“Hold your heads high,” they told them. “We’ll be back, for sure,” Flick told them.

Still, there was undeniable anger among the players. Many felt they had control of the tie on more than one occasion but were unable to capitalise and that sense of injustice was amplified by difficult moments during the game.

Ghosts of the past

For some within the squad, this exit felt eerily familiar, drawing comparisons to last season’s painful elimination against Inter Milan.

Once again, Barcelona had come close, only to fall short in circumstances that left questions unanswered.

Notably, several refereeing calls across both legs became a major talking point in the dressing room.

However, amid all the noise, Barcelona are already looking ahead. The club’s focus shifts immediately to La Liga. “And now for La Liga,” they say.

With a strong points advantage over Real Madrid, the domestic title is now within reach.
