Aurelien Tchouameni’s suspension is one of the key blows that Real Madrid approach their game against Bayern Munich with, and it is clear that it is a major handicap.
The Frenchman, after all, has been one of the more reliable players in midfield for Los Blancos and his absence leaves a void in the defensive midfield that few teammates can fill.
For long, his compatriot Eduardo Camavinga seemed to be the right man for the job, especially given how he has done a good job filling into Tchouameni’s shoes in the past.
Now, however, the situation is turning out differently.
A new frontrunner
As reported by El Partidazo de COPE in a recent report, Alvaro Arbeloa tested out Camavinga in the defensive midfield position against Girona and was keenly interested in how the Frenchman does given a chance.

The player, however, dished out one of his worst performances of the season and failed the test, and will thus be benched against Bayern Munich.
Instead, Federico Valverde is now set to start in that position for Real Madrid on the big night and will likely sit at the heart of midfield.
Over the years, Valverde has established himself as a versatile player who can perform regardless of the position he is asked to play in, and he will be up for the challenge of playing out of position in Real Madrid’s biggest game of the season.
Taking on Bayern Munich at home will require Real Madrid to be at the top of their defensive game, and the defensive midfielder will have a crucial part in the same.
Valverde, thus, may well make or break the game tomorrow night.
