Not many academies in world football can match the pedigree of Barcelona’s famed La Masia. Over the years, the youth set up has continued to produce a conveyor belt of the very best stars. From Xavi to Lionel Messi. From Andrés Iniesta to Lamine Yamal. Barca are always also keen to scoop up other young talent from across the globe to then nurture them at La Masia, and one of the latest youngsters to follow this path will be 18-year-old Jesse Bisiwu.

This Tuesday reports emerged that Barcelona had sealed the agreement to sign Bisiwu from Belgian outfit Club Brugge for a fee thought to be around €8.5 million, with a fixed 20% sell-on clause also included. Clubs are now reportedly exchanging documents for the teenage winger. Bisiwu has a current market value of just €800k, but this is likely to dramatically increase in the future given this surprise transfer. So what kind of player is Bisiwu and what has he achieved so far? Let’s find out.
What has Jesse Bisiwu already achieved?
Bisiwu is still yet to make an appearance for the Club Brugge first team, but his performances at youth level have created plenty of excitement. Having only turned 18 in January, the young Belgian was already a regular in Brugge's Club NXT last season – the most senior youth team. He played 36 matches, scoring two goals and providing two assists.
Meanwhile, in the UEFA Youth League, he played 14 games for Club Brugge U19, scoring three goals and providing one assist. Bisiwu has also been a regular for the Belgian youth ranks. He has appeared for the U15, U16, U17 and U18s, and made his debut for the Belgian U19s in March. The 18-year-old, of Ghanian descent, is a skillful, direct winger who likes to run at opponents.
