Ansu Fati is one of the several Barcelona players out on loan this season, and if the team’s campaign and rumours around the player are anything to go by, the Catalans do not have him in their long-term plans.
For a long time, there was a sense of hope that Fati would come good and recover his peak form. Time, however, has proven that the player is unlikely to ever hit the same peak again and the administration and fans appear to have made peace with that development.
Even his loan, unfortunately, did not seem to be going to plan for a long time as Fati was struggling after a bright start at AS Monaco. The situation now, however, is different.
A permanent sale
As reported by the ever-reliable Fabrizio Romano, AS Monaco have decided to trigger Fati’s permanent transfer clause on his loan which comes as a massive boost for the Catalans.
The clause to make his move permanent sits at close to €11 million, and the French side are willing to make that investment in the player as they see him to be worth more than what is being demanded for him.
The Blaugrana, moreover, will retain a sell-on clause on the player once talks with his entourage have concluded. The deal is now in its final stages.
After a long time, Fati’s contractual bond with Barcelona thus seems to be coming to an end and the player will likely be forced to cut ties with the club of his dreams. He will, forever, be remembered as a story of ‘what could have been.’
So far this season, the Barcelona star has made 23 appearances and nine starts for his team in Ligue 1 and has ten goals to show in that duration.
He did face a rough patch mid-season, but he is slowly beginning to find his footing back and has now scored two goals in his last three league games.
