His 2025/26 return of 12 goals and seven assists in 43 matches is solid rather than spectacular, but numbers alone do not define his appeal. Barcola offers carry distance, ball progression and the ability to unbalance defenders before a final pass or shot. That kind of threat has been missing too often from Liverpool’s wide areas.
PSG Deal Would Be Complicated
The obstacle, naturally, is Paris Saint-Germain. Barcola is under contract, playing regularly and part of a club that does not usually sell prized young attackers cheaply. Any Liverpool move would require conviction, patience and a serious fee.

Still, there is logic here. If Slot wants width, pace and unpredictability, Barcola ticks plenty of boxes. He would not arrive as the finished article, but that may be the point. Liverpool’s best forward signings have often been players on the rise rather than players at the summit.
