Report in Italy claims Massara has already left Roma

Roma confirmed on Friday that Ranieri has left his position as senior advisor to the club following a public spat with head coach Gian Piero Gasperini over the last few weeks.

Various reports over the last fortnight suggest that there was a growing rift within the Roma camp and that Gasperini and Ranieri were no longer speaking to each other at the club’s training ground, a situation that was untenable and required action to be taken.

Ultimately, the club have decided to side with the coach rather than their advisor, and this is also likely to lead to the departure of sporting director Massara as well.

Reports indicate that Massara and Gasperini never truly saw eye-to-eye, and Roma’s shortcomings on the transfer market has been a recurring complaint from the coach in countless interviews and press conferences this season.

Corriere dello Sport claims that Massara’s departure from the club is increasingly likely, however, reports from Siamolaroma.it claim that Massara also tendered his resignation on Friday evening following the news of Ranieri’s departure.

Siamolaroma adds that Massara has a break clause in his Giallorossi contract, which can be activated before the date of June 30 on every year of his deal. Friday’s report adds that Massara would not be entitled to compensation in the event of a resignation.
