2026 World Cup Odds: France Joins Spain as Co-Favorites After Lamine Yamal Injury

There are less than 50 days remaining until the biggest sporting event America has ever hosted.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be held in North America, with live coverage on FOX and the FOX Sports app.

Bettors and fans already have their sights set on the global spectacle, which will kick off on June 11. The World Cup final will be held at New Jersey's MetLife Stadium on July 19, 2026.

After the World Cup groups were announced in December, Spain opened as the favorite at +450, followed by England (+550) and France (+750). But after Spain’s 18-year-old phenom Lamine Yamal suffered an injury in a Barcelona match this week, the odds have shifted.

Yamal has been diagnosed with a torn hamstring and is ruled out for the rest of the season with FC Barcelona. However, the club added he is "expected to be available for the World Cup," with Spain set to open its campaign in 53 days on June 15 against Cape Verde.

Even so, the betting market has reacted. France is now listed as a co-favorite alongside Spain to win the tournament.
