In his first stint with Liverpool, Jay Spearing made 55 appearances for his boyhood club without scoring a single goal.
Now back as a player-coach with the Under-21s side, he has struck for a third Reds side – the Legends team – today at Anfield. And what a strike it was.
The 37-year-old unleashed a rocket from the edge of the box that gave Borussia Dortmund legend Roman Weidenfeller no chance.
Rather fittingly, his maiden goal in red came while in a Kenny Dalglish side and in midfield alongside Steven Gerrard.
Arguably the two greatest players in club history, Dalglish was the man to truly trust Spearing in the first-team while Gerrard was his captain and likely idol.
Not a bad day's work!
