If Xavi Hernández stated yesterday in 'La Vanguardia' that Joan Laporta had blocked Lionel Messi's return to Barcelona in 2023 despite having financial authorization from LALIGA, today Javier Tebas has sought to clarify that account.
The president of the league denies that such approval existed in an interview for Estudio Estadio (TVE) broadcast in the first edition of the Telediario
“That’s not true. LaLiga did not authorize anything at all nor did it give the OK for the operation," Tebas states.
Xavi maintains that the Argentine’s return was imminent and that the process began to take shape at the 2022 World Cup, with several conversations up until March 2023.
Now Tebas denies that there was any “green light from LaLiga” as Xavi claims.
