Junior Kroupi has been a revelation for Bournemouth this season to cement his reputation as one of the most exciting young strikers in Europe. The Cherries capitalised on their multi-club ownership structure to sign Kroupi from Lorient for €13 million in January 2025 and he has flourished in his first season in the Premier League. The 19-year-old’s market value has soared to €40m amid interest from leading European clubs and he’s not been shy about his career ambitions.

Speaking in a recent interview, he said: "I had dreams of winning the Ballon d'Or, of playing for the biggest clubs in the world, but they aren't really dreams anymore, rather objectives. I know that I can make them a reality. I'm now working to get to where I want to be". The France U21 international’s goal in Bournemouth’s impressive weekend win was a landmark strike as it was his 10th in the league. Interestingly, Kroupi became just the fourth teenager this century to reach double figures in a Premier League season!

Highest scoring Premier League teenagers this century

Kroupi’s brilliant debut season ranks second for the highest scoring amongst teenagers and he could eclipse the record, held by Wayne Rooney. The former England international netted 11 goals during the 2004/05 campaign, which he started at Everton before earning his move to Manchester United – all Rooney’s goals that campaign were for United.

As the graphic above illustrates, Rooney features twice in the top ten list after scoring nine goals in his breakthrough season at the Tofees. Mason Greenwood and Jermaine Defoe are the only other teenagers to hit double-figures for goals in the English top-flight since 2000. As Bournemouth still have six league games remaining this season, Kroupi has an excellent change to break Rooney’s record, which would be an incredible achievement.
