Former Newcastle defender John Anderson is confident Eddie Howe will give the battling response that is needed to the Magpies' recent struggles.
Since taking charge, Howe has saved the team from relegation, taken them to two cup finals and led the club to its first qualification for Champions League football for 20 years.
As such, Newcastle's current form is the first obstacle Howe has had to overcome, according to Anderson.
"Since he's come in, everything has gone very, very well," Anderson told BBC Radio Newcastle. “This is the first sticky patch he’s really had.
"All managers go through it – it's never all going to be sunshine and roses.
"It's how you handle the bad times. At the moment we're having a bad time of it – performances aren't good, results aren't good.
"You've got to battle to get through that, and I'm sure he will."
