FC Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal started in the derby against Espanyol today at the Spotify Camp Nou despite there being some reservations about his worload.
In doing so, the La Masia graduate reached his 100th La Liga appearance at just 18 years and 272 days old.
With this, Lamine has now become the youngest player ever to hit that milestone in the competition – by more than a year, going past a Real Madrid legend.
Indeed, Lamine surpassed Real Madrid icon Raul Gonzalez in this achievement. The former striker reached 100 La Liga matches at 19 years and 284 days.
Completing the podium of the youngest players to reach 100 games is Iker Muniain, who also had a very strong start to his career at Athletic Club, achieving it at 19 years and 293 days.
In his first 99 La Liga matches, Lamine Yamal recorded 28 goals and 27 assists. In this derby, he added two more assists, setting up Ferran Torres for both his goals in the first half.
A special player, the teenage sensation continues to break records and is destined for greatness in the game.
