Real Madrid have reportedly cooled their interest in Rodri despite recent speculation linking the midfielder with a possible move to the Santiago Bernabéu.
A few days ago, reports suggested that the Spanish giants were considering making an approach for the Manchester City midfielder as part of their long-term midfield rebuild.
However, according to a fresh update from SPORT, the situation has now changed significantly.
The report states that Real Madrid have deliberately distanced themselves from the player and are currently not pursuing a transfer.
Over the past few months, Rodri’s name has appeared frequently in discussions surrounding Madrid’s midfield plans.
Rodri, a Ballon d’Or winner, naturally stood out as an attractive option, as the Spanish international has developed into one of the most complete holding midfielders in world football.
However, several factors have pushed Real Madrid away from making a concrete move.

The midfielder still has one year remaining on his deal with Manchester City, meaning the English club would demand a significant transfer fee if they were to consider selling him.
The financial aspect is another major concern, as reports suggest Manchester City would not accept offers below €60 million.
Age and fitness concerns have also played a role in Madrid’s thinking. Rodri will turn 30 this summer and is currently recovering from a serious knee injury that has affected his availability.
Old admiration
Real Madrid’s admiration for Rodri is not new. In fact, the club had previously monitored the midfielder earlier in his career when he was still playing for Atletico Madrid.
At the time, however, a move was considered impossible due to Atlético’s strong resistance to selling the player to their city rivals.
Rodri eventually moved to Manchester City in 2019, where Pep Guardiola helped transform him into one of the most influential midfielders in Europe.
For now, Madrid appear willing to wait. If Rodri’s contract situation changes in the future, particularly if he approaches free agency, the club could reconsider the opportunity.
In the meantime, Real Madrid continue scanning the market for midfield reinforcements.
