Striker David Kamara says he has no fears about taking penalties after scoring his first two goals for Peterborough United – both from the spot.

Kamara was sent on as a 65th-minute substitute against Rotherham United, only his third first-team appearance for Posh, and his double helped them to a 5-0 win.

The 20-year-old had only been on the pitch for three minutes when skipper Peter Kioso handed him the responsibility to make it 3-0 instead of Kyrell Lisbie, who had been fouled.

And he found the opposite corner eight minutes later when Cian Hayes was brought down in the box.

"He takes penalties for the second team. And not too long ago, at the training ground, I watched him take one in exactly the same manner, the same preparation, the same convincing thump of the ball," boss Luke Williams told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire.

"I loved that from PK [to give Kamara the ball] – he's got the armband on, no silliness, he just made the decision. And fair play to Kyrell, because it's nice to see I have players on the pitch who want to take penalties."

Kamara joined Peterborough from non-league Welling United in 2024 but has had to bide his time for a chance and has been on loan at King's Lynn and Harborough Town this season.

Asked how he felt when Kioso told him to take the first penalty, he said: "My eyes lit up. I don't miss penalties, which is a bold thing to say, but it's the truth. I didn't look at it as pressure, I looked at it as an opportunity to get my first goal.

"The keeper's not saving it either way if I do pick my spot because normally I try to aim for the corners.

"I practise a lot. I'm glad I got the opportunity to do it on the big stage and glad the practice paid off."

Peterborough, who visit AFC Wimbledon on Saturday, are 13th in League One, nine points outside the play-off places with nine games left.
