Former Bristol Rovers assistant boss Andy Mangan has joined Swansea City’s staff until the end of the season.
Swansea say Mangan has been appointed as a first-team consultant, with the 39-year-old adding to the Championship club’s sizable backroom team.
Mangan spent almost three years at Rovers, where he was first-team coach under Joey Barton and also had a spell as caretaker boss before leaving the club in 2023.
Mangan worked at the Memorial Stadium alongside Tom Gorringe, the former Pirates chief executive who now fills the same role at Swansea.
The Liverpool-born former striker has also coached at Fleetwood Town – which was also alongside former Manchester City player Barton – and Stockport County.
His most recent coaching post was at Brazilian club Botafogo, where he was on the staff of Davide Ancelotti.
Ancelotti, the son of managerial legend Carlo, studied for his coaching pro licence in Wales, on the same course as Mangan and Swansea head coach Vitor Matos.
Mangan had been lined up to Carlo Ancelotti's Real Madrid coaching staff in 2024, only for the move to collapse after his work permit was a rejected.
In his playing days, Mangan represented a string of lower-league and non-league clubs including Wrexham, Accrington Stanley, Tranmere Rovers and Fleetwood.
Swansea appointed Ryan Maye as their assistant head coach in December, while Matos brought in Portuguese trio Diogo Medeiros, Toze Mendes and Goncalo Ricca from former Maritimo following his move to Wales last November.
They joined head of goalkeeping Martyn Margetson and first-team coach Kristian O'Leary on the Swansea staff, while club legends Leon Britton and Joe Allen also have roles in Matos’ backroom team.
