Man Utd winner a 'brilliant moment' for 'unlucky' Osula

Newcastle United forward William Osula could have made a real difference to their season if he had not suffered an ankle injury, believes BBC Radio Newcastle commentator Matthew Raisbeck.

Osula scored a 90th-minute winner against Manchester United on Wednesday, his second Premier League goal of the season after netting against Liverpool back in August.

"Osula's other goal was also when Newcastle had 10 men, against Liverpool, and it was late," Raisbeck said. "But they went on to concede late and lose that game but this time, his goal really counted for something.

"It meant everything, it was a brilliant moment for him. The quality of the finish – the television angle and the view we had from the commentary box, it was the perfect view because you could see the whip. Incredible technique.

"Osula's talked about practicing that type of shot in training and that's why you do that – practice makes permanent. Brilliant for him.

"I think he's been unlucky this season because he started with that goal against Liverpool, then got his first Premier League start but it didn't really happen for him and then had three months injured – at the time when Nick Woltemade's initial run of goals had come to a halt and Yoanne Wissa wasn't quite fit.

"If he hadn't missed so much football, Newcastle would have used him a lot more and he would have had a lot more opportunities and I'm sure a lot more goals."
