Looking ahead to next season, one of Gian Piero Gasperini’s key players is Donyell Malen.

According to today’s edition of Il Messaggero, the Giallorossi have already decided to move forward with the permanent acquisition of the Dutch striker, regardless of the league’s final results.

The agreement includes a mandatory buyout clause set at €25 million (in addition to the €2 million already paid for the loan).

This clause would officially be triggered upon reaching 50% of appearances of at least 45 minutes—a target the player has already achieved—and upon Roma’s qualification for the upcoming European competitions.

However, the club’s clear intention to complete the deal is apparent even if the mandatory buyout clause is not triggered due to their final league position.

In this scenario, due to the penalty mechanism (which would increase the loan fee), the total cost of the deal would rise to €27.5 million overall, compared to the €27 million expected if the mandatory buyout clause were to be triggered.

Another key detail for the club’s strategies concerns the payment method: the sum will be paid in three installments.

This deferral will allow Roma to account for only a portion of the outlay by June 30th, providing valuable support to the budget and facilitating compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations.
