Liverpool recently triggered a one-year contract extension for Alisson Becker.
The Reds’ long-serving goalkeeper’s previous deal was due to expire in summer 2026 – but the club held all the cards over a renewal.
Richard Hughes decided to activate the clause with the Brazilian No1 now due to remain at Anfield until summer 2027. The 33-year-old is currently out injured and it remains a mystery as to when he will return.
But Liverpool are committed to a £150k per week contract for at least another season – injury trouble notwithstanding. However we could see the club left with an agonising decision over Alisson this summer.
Juventus dreaming of Alisson
Luciano Spalletti – the Juventus coach – was in charge of Alisson during their days together at Roma prior to his record-breaking transfer to Liverpool.
And as the veteran trainer plots the renewal of his squad in Turin Alisson has been described as one of Juve’s “dream” signings ahead of the summer.
Gazzetta dello Sportreports that the Old Lady are plotting deals for Alisson, Bernardo Silva and Robert Lewandowski.
And in order to accommodate those three superstars on the payroll Juventus are prepared to shed between €20m and €25m in salary costs at the end of the season.
Juventus to clear the way for Alisson's £150k per week wage
Top earner Dusan Vlahovic will take his €12m salary off the books with him when he leaves while fellow forwards Jonathan David (€6m) and Lois Openda (€4m) will also be heading out the door.
Factor in the departures of Filip Kostic (€2.5m) and Arkadiusz Milik (€2m) and you get to the savings required to facilitate the new signings.
Alisson charges around €9m annually – based on his current £150k per week Liverpool salary – but will require a transfer fee considering his renewal.
A transfer fee could sweeten the deal for Liverpool – who have got Giorgi Mamardashvili lined up to take over as No1.
Maybe Alisson’s recent hamstring injuries have brought into focus that he comes with a lack of reliability these days considering his frequent absences.
But one thing is now clear and that is Juventus under CEO Damien Comolli are prepared to clear the decks for Alisson.
