Today’s match was a head-to-head at the top of Group 6, as both went in on six points each, ahead of Hungary and Slovakia.
It ended 1-1 thanks to the Samuele Inacio strike, despite a Darvin Soylu equaliser, so the Azzurrini won the group thanks to a superior goal difference of +6 compared to the Turkish tally of +2.
Coach Alberto Bollini’s side won 3-0 against both Hungary and Slovakia in the Elite Round.
The winners of the groups go through to join hosts Wales in the final tournament, and the draw will be held for that in Wrexham on April 16.
This competition will run from June 28 to July 11, and also decide the European qualifiers for the 2027 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Azerbaijan.
Italy last won the European Under-19 Championship in 2023, adding to their only other triumph in 2003.
