Luis Henrique has opened up about his difficult start to life at Inter Milan, crediting both Carlos Augusto and Lautaro Martinez for helping him find his feet, and insisting the rocky beginning was nothing more than a natural adjustment phase.
Speaking to Brazilian football magazine Placar, via FCIN, the wing-back was candid about the challenges of adapting to Cristian Chivu’s system after arriving from Marseille last summer.
The tactical demands of Serie A came as no surprise.
Indeed, having previously worked under Gennaro Gattuso and Roberto De Zerbi.
However, the specifics of the Inter role took time to absorb.
“At Marseille, even though I played as a winger, I moved with more freedom, more advanced,” he explained.
“Here at Inter I participate more in build-up play and ball distribution. At the start it was more difficult, but with each game I adapted. Today I feel much more comfortable and I am improving.”

The presence of Carlos Augusto proved invaluable from day one.
“It was positive that there was already a Brazilian like Carlos Augusto in the squad, he helped me a lot,” he said.
But it was Lautaro’s warmth that clearly left the biggest impression.
“I have a good relationship with Lautaro Martinez, he welcomed me brilliantly. He even sent me a message when things settled down. He jokes a lot and tries to speak Portuguese.”
On Italian football’s tactical demands, Luis Henrique was equally thoughtful.
“You notice that teams are very well prepared tactically. There is a lot of man-marking and that makes a big difference.”
At Inter, the solution is detailed video analysis before every training session and match, a methodical approach that has gradually helped him find his rhythm.
