He's a superstar! The ultimate Michael Edwards transfer is here

The ultimate Michael Edwards transfer is here, and he's a superstar.

The club's former sporting director who is now working under FSG as the CEO of Football Operations has been under fire recently.

Liverpool spent £450m in the summer and that was done under Edwards' supervision. A lot of fans have been quick to cast judgements on the massive investment – but this is wrong.

Transfers need at least two to three years to be properly judged – just as rebuilds take time. Rome was not built in a day and neither will Liverpool rise from the ashes within a day either.

Edwards has dealt further frustration from FSG's reluctance to sanction a multi-club deal. This was a major incentive for Edwards to return to work with the club's American owners but it looks like the idea has become dormant.

For Edwards and his recruitment team who look to bring players in who are under the radar, this is a significant disadvantage when it comes to their negotiations.

Young players want to play regularly and that is all they care about. At Liverpool, the standards are so high, some talented young players will chose alternative paths where they will be guaranteed more regular minutes.

Liverpool have thus turned towards more 'proven' talent but this policy is not one Edwards should adhere to for long.

He needs to go back to his old ways. He needs to be the Edwards we came to love. The recruitment guru who was able to work together with his scouting and data department to find and unearth raw gems.

And this is why we should cast a glance over towards AIK in Sweden. This is the team that heralded the arrival of Alexander Isak.

It's here that Isak burst onto the scene and it's here that Edwards and his recruitment team first became aware of him.

Liverpool wanted to sign Isak at the time when he was playing at AIK, but Borussia Dortmund's track record with young players swayed him in that direction.

Edwards lost out then and was forced to pay £125m in order to eventually land the Swede.

He won't want to make the same mistake again.

Because there is a talent emerging in Sweden who is very much on par with Isak, and who is very rapidly becoming a superstar at AIK.

Meet Zadok Yohanna. A Nigerian 18-year-old right-winger who has 12 goal contributions in his last 12 games for AIK in 2026, including friendlies.

In competitive games, he has five goal contributions in five games, playing just 297 minutes in total. So, he's averaging a goal or assist every 59.4 minutes.

Yohanna isn't just special because of his output though. The sample size is small so right now we aren't just looking at the output but his performances, and it is these performances and his playing style that makes him special.

At such a young age, he already comes across as a very complete player.

Yohanna is a master dribbler, who has attempted 31 dribbles and completed 19 of them in his last three games. He possesses excellent ball manipulation skills, and his technical prowess is superb.

From the mastery of his first-touch to his ability to quickly shift his feet and change direction in close quarters, Yohanna can bamboozle defenders with ease. He sells every feint and drop of the shoulder really well, and the disguise of his movement to put his opponents off balance is what makes him such an excellent one vs one winger.

Liverpool are lacking one vs one wingers right now, so Yohanna should absolutely be a player the club are watching – especially because they have recently increased their scouting presence in Scandinavia.

But Yohanna is not just a dribbler. He is intelligent in his movement, he constantly finds himself in goal-scoring situations and is a threat from aerial duels, too.

He's scored from headers on multiple occasions during pre-season and has an excellent leap and timing that makes him a threat even from set-pieces and crosses.

The 18-year-old is simply the perfect package, and he is the ultimate Edwards signing. This is what the Liverpool man loves to do – find gems before they become superstars.

Yohanna will be a superstar, and now it's up to Edwards to make sure that happens at Anfield.
