Nottingham Forest have reduced ticket prices for their upcoming Europa League fixture against Midtjylland in an effort to boost attendance at the City Ground.

The two sides will meet in the first leg of their last-16 tie on Thursday night.

Forest confirmed that ticket prices have been reduced by £10 across all areas of the stadium for season ticket holders and club members.

Supporters who have already purchased tickets will also receive a refund covering the price difference.

The club announced the change after sales for the fixture progressed more slowly than expected.

Large sections of unsold seats were still available for the match earlier this week.

Forest said the decision was taken to ensure as many supporters as possible can attend the important European fixture.

In a statement, the club emphasised the significance of the occasion.

“It’s an important night for everybody associated with the club, including our supporters, our players and our coaching staff,” the statement read.

The fixture represents a major opportunity for the club to advance in European competition.

Forest are attempting to reach the quarter-finals of a continental tournament for the first time in three decades.

The club also highlighted the role supporters can play in creating an intimidating atmosphere.

“We know that the City Ground atmosphere is unique and can make a crucial difference on nights like this,” the statement added. “We want as many supporters as possible of all ages to be able to attend.”

Forest’s return to European football this season has created both excitement and financial pressure for fans.

The club qualified for continental competition for the first time in 30 years.

Supporters have already travelled extensively across Europe to follow the team.

Forest have played away matches in Spain, Austria, the Netherlands, Portugal and Turkey during this campaign.

Ticket pricing has been a major talking point among the fanbase throughout the season.

Adult tickets for the Midtjylland game had originally been priced between £50 and £70.

Some supporters expressed concern that those prices made European matches difficult to attend regularly.

The Nottingham Forest Supporters Trust recently published survey results highlighting those concerns.

Several respondents said the cost of European fixtures had limited attendance for some fans.

The club’s decision to reduce prices appears to be a direct response to that feedback.

Forest will hope a larger crowd can help create a strong atmosphere for the first leg.

The Danish side have already shown they can pose problems for Forest.

Midtjylland previously secured a 3-2 victory at the City Ground earlier in the competition.

Forest will now aim to take control of the tie before the return leg in Denmark.
