Ipswich Town full-back Leif Davis has been given a three-match ban after being charged with violent conduct.

An incident in the 27th minute of last weekend's game with Leicester City was not seen by match officials but was caught on video.

Davis admitted the charge, but claimed the automatic penalty was excessive, but the ban was upheld by a disciplinary panel.

"Following a week of frustration regarding officiating, I am incensed by the timing, process and outcome regarding this incident," said Ipswich chairman Mark Ashton.

"We are currently awaiting written reasons, which we expect to be full, clear and transparent, and will reserve the club's position until that point."

Davis will miss Saturday's game at already-relegated Sheffield Wednesday, and home fixtures against promotion rivals Millwall and Birmingham City.
