Cardiff City are still waiting for top scorer Yousef Salech to return from his neck injury.

Salech, 24, has not played since sustaining the injury during a 1-1 draw against Stockport County on 24 January.

He has resumed training but it remains unclear when he will be back in first-team action.

The same is true of forward Isaak Davies, who has been out since 7 February due to a combination of concussion and hamstring issues.

Following a fortnight without a game due to the international break, Cardiff resume their League One promotion bid at Peterborough United on Monday (15:00 BST), the first of their seven final games of the season.

"Isaak is still out injured and Yousef is back in the very early stages of training with us," said head coach Brian Barry-Murphy.

"He [Salech] trained for the first time yesterday [Wednesday] with the group, so it's good to have him back.

"Yousef back in training is great for us all. It's given us all a big lift to have him back and to recover from such a serious injury.

"But he has been out for a very long time with a very serious injury and he's still going through the process of making sure that he's OK in all the different aspects that he has to get through before we're really confident that he can be involved [in matches]."

Cardiff could be without centre-back Dylan Lawlor for the trip to Peterborough after the 20-year-old picked up a knock while playing for Wales in their friendly draw against Northern Ireland on Tuesday.

Attacking midfielder Rubin Colwill is also a doubt having withdrawn from the Wales squad with a tight hamstring.

"Dylan has to be assessed," Barry-Murphy added. "Rubin hasn't trained with us yet, so fingers crossed he'll train before the game on Monday."

Cardiff are second in League One, 11 points clear of third-placed Bolton Wanderers.

The Bluebirds struggled before last month's international break, losing three and drawing two of their past seven games to fall seven points behind leaders Lincoln City.

"I think during the course of the season there's going to be all sorts of different periods of good results, bad results or results you want to be better on," Barry-Murphy said.

"The players have done brilliant things to put us in a position where we can now look forward to what could be an incredible end to the season."
