Armagh bounced back from their opening round defeat by Waterford with a 0-13 to 0-9 victory over Kildare in Division One of the LGFA National League.

Kelly Mallon led the way for the Orchard side in Hawkfield with five pointed frees to help last year's finalists to their first win of the campaign.

Kildare made the better start with four of the first five points through Alannah Prizeman (two), Ciara Wheeler and Lisa Shaw with Lauren McConville on target for Armagh.

However, the Ulster side took over with Mallon (three), Catherine Marley, Aoife McCoy and Maeve Lennon on target as they led 0-7 to 0-4 at the half.

Lara Marsden extended the lead after the break, but Kildare rallied with points from Aoife Rattigan, Prizeman and Molly Aspell to reduce the gap to the minimum.

Armagh hit back with McConville, Mallon and Emily Druseon target and while Prizeman brought her tally to five with two frees, they came either side of Mallon and Druse scores to help the Orchard side home.

Red Hands win 10-goal thriller

In Division Two, Tyrone continued their impressive start with a 4-15 to 6-6 win over Westmeath.

A Meave Maxwell goal helped the Red Hands get off to a flying start, but two goals fro Westmeath brought them back into it before Emma Conroy hit Tyrone's second.

Another two green flags for the visitors helped them surge into the lead by the break, leading 4-4 to 2-7, and a fifth major appeared to leave them in a good place eight minutes into the second period.

Tyrone responded brilliantly with two goals in the space of four minutes from Cara McNamee flipping the game their way once more and there was no looking back despite conceding a sixth goal late on.

Donegal won the all-Ulster clash against Monaghan with goals from Susanne White and Ava Caulfield helping them to a 2-10 to 0-13 victory, while Cavan were 1-15 to 1-9 winners over Tipperary with Clara Lynch netting seconds into the second half.

Antrim's impressive start in Division Three continued with a 4-16 to 1-14 win away to Limerick with goals from Ciara Brown (two), Bronagh Devlin and Maria O'Neill.

In the same division, Down were 2-14 to 1-14 winners over Laois as Katie Howlett and Eva Hicks found the net, but Fermanagh had to be content with a 4-8 to 3-11 draw against Roscommon.

Derry are still to get off the mark in Division Four as they lost out to Longford, going down 0-10 to 0-4.
