RC Strasbourg are closing in on the loan signing of Chelsea striker David Datro Fofana, with only the final signature required for the deal to be made official – according to a report from L’Équipe.
The 23-year-old Côte d’Ivoire international has given his agreement in principle, and a dry loan between sister clubs Chelsea and RC Strasbourg, both owned by the BlueCo group, was finalised on Sunday. Fofana is expected to complete a medical in London before travelling to Alsace, with official confirmation anticipated imminently.
Chelsea opted against alternative proposals, notably from RCD Mallorca, who included an €8m purchase option, and AJ Auxerre, a destination favoured by the player. Instead, the Blues prioritised a straight loan that keeps Fofana under contract until June 2029.GFFN | George Boxall
