Despite their defeat to PSG in the Champions League final, Arsenal fans are still on cloud nine after finally winning the English Premier League. It wasn’t pretty at times but Mikel Arteta’s men fully deserved to end a 22-year wait to be crowned champions. Arsenal have the best defence in the world and the priority for Arteta this summer will be to significantly strengthen their attack.

Arsenal
Record sales

The North London side lack a truly world-class superstar amongst their forwards and they are also expected to add an established midfield during the transfer window. Arsenal are financially in a strong position but they’ll also aim to offset their spending by selling several fringe options. The Gunners’ record at offloading players is atrocious with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s €38m move to Liverpool still their record sale. Therefore, we’ve analysed six first-team stars who are facing uncertain futures this summer and could be sold.

Six Arsenal stars who could be sold this summer

Market Value

Martin ØdegaardM. Ødegaard

Attacking Midfield

€65.00m

Martin Ødegaard lifted the Premier League trophy at Selhurst Park but there’s speculation that he could be offloaded this summer. Odegaard’s stock has fallen dramatically across recent years with his market value plummeting from €110m to €60m. On his day, the Norwegian international remains a quality attacking midfield player but he’s no longer a guaranteed starter and Arsenal would secure a record fee, if he’s sold.

Market Value

Gabriel MartinelliG. Martinelli

Left Winger

€45.00m

Arsenal face two options on Gabriel Martinelli this summer; extend his contract or sell him. The Brazilian international has entered the last year of his contract and the Gunners won’t allow him to depart on a free. Martinelli’s career has stalled in recent years and he’s not fully delivered on his potential. The Gunners’ biggest priority in the transfer window will be a new left-winger and Martinelli will realistically be an impact player next season. Whether he’s happy enough with that status to extend his contract remains to be seen but there should be a market for Martinelli in Italy and Spain.

Market Value

Ethan NwaneriE. Nwaneri

Attacking Midfield

€35.00m

Ethan Nwaneri was viewed as a generational talent when he progressed through Arsenal’s famed Hale End academy. At 19, Nwaneri has plenty of time to be a success at his boyhood club but there’s been plenty of reports suggesting that Arsenal will cash in. The biggest problem for the Englishman is that he needs regular minutes to develop and that’s difficult to envisage at Arsenal. His loan spell at Marseille last season was an unmitigated disaster and a permanent sale with a buy-back option could be the best decision for all parties.

Market Value

Leandro TrossardL. Trossard

Left Winger

€18.00m

Leandro Trossard has delivered some big moments at Arsenal, including on their journey to winning the title. Like Martinelli however, Trossard’s contract expires in 2027 and he’s unlikely to be offered an extension on improved terms. There’s significant interest in the Belgium international and Arsenal will likely field offers and it could prove tempting to sell, given he turns 32 in December. There’s strong reports that Besitkas could seal a deal for Trossard this summer.

Market Value

Gabriel JesusG. Jesus

Centre-Forward

€17.00m

Injuries have truly hampered Gabriel Jesus’ career and he’s up for sale this summer. The 29-year-old is valued at €17m on Transfemarkt but it’s understood that Arsenal want in excess of €20m to sanction his exit. Jesus remains a popular figure at the club and it wouldn’t be a disaster if he remained but a move to AC Milan has been strongly rumoured.

Market Value

Ben WhiteBen White

Right-Back

€30.00m

Ben White has been an exemplary servant to Arsenal but he’s no longer first-choice and he’s been linked with an exit this summer. There will be significant interest in White’s services if he becomes available and Arsenal can expect to field offers around his €30m valuation. The fact that Christian Mosquera started over him in the Champions League final at right-back, indicates White’s current standing under Arteta.
