Reports in Italy claim that former Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood has said ‘yes’ to the idea of joining Roma this summer, but the Giallorossi face an uphill battle in negotiations with his current employers in Marseille.

The controversial 24-year-old is expected to leave Marseille during the summer transfer window after spending the last two seasons in Ligue 1, providing 37 goals from 66 appearances in the league and 48 from 81 outings across all competitions.
Roma are expected to add to their attacking ranks during the summer transfer window, and following their qualification to the Champions League, the club’s owners wish to show their ambition and take advantage of the positive momentum built under Gian Piero Gasperini during the final stretch of the 2025-26 campaign as per the Corriere dello Sport.
There have been reports that Roma are keen to bring Greenwood to the Stadio Olimpico, although the 24-year-old has plenty of interest across Europe, including from Fenerbahce.
The Corriere dello Sport reports that Roma are having constant conversations with the player and his entourage and that Greenwood has given his approval to the idea of joining Roma this summer.
The player is expected to command a significant salary, which the Corriere dello Sport expects to be in excess of €4m per season plus bonuses.
The more difficult challenge will be finding an agreement with Marseille, who are expected to demand around €50m-€55m for the Englishman this summer. Tuesday’s report claims that Roma will open with an offer of €40m including bonuses, which is likely to be turned down.
