When Mikel Arteta eventually leaves Arsenal, and at some point, he will, the club will face a decision that defines their next era. Do they look for continuity or reinvention? Do they appoint a proven winner from the European elite or take a calculated gamble on an emerging talent?

If the history of the Emirates suggests anything, it is that Arsenal tend to reward loyalty and ideology over pedigree. And if that is still the case in 2027, one name should be at the very top of their list: Cesc Fabregas.
