The club legend spent his entire playing career in the Giallorossi jersey, having grown up supporting them and then becoming an iconic representative.
He retired in 2017 and had a brief spell in the Roma staff until walking away in 2019, as he felt that he wasn’t given enough powers and was being treated as a mere mascot.
Gasperini wants Totti back at Roma
La Gazzetta dello Sport claim Gasperini has floated the idea of bringing Totti back to work with the new director of sport, who will be Tony D’Amico after leaving Atalanta.
The Friedkin family had already approached the legend to be a Centenary Ambassador for 2027, but Gasperini is pushing for a more significant role behind the scenes.
He believes that the Number 10 could be a bridge between the squad and the directorial staff, creating more unity.
This is what Claudio Ranieri was meant to do, but his clashes with Gasperini prompted his dismissal before the season was out.
