Lazio is set to leave Lazio after one season back in charge, which resulted in a ninth-place finish in Serie A in 2025-26.
He is set to replace Palladino as the head coach of Atalanta, where he will be reunited with recently-appointed director Cristiano Giuntoli. Sarri and Giuntoli had several successful seasons working together at Napoli, and this is thought to be a major factor in the coach’s decision to join Atalanta rather than the Partenopei, who also require a replacement for Antonio Conte.
According to the latest updates from TMW, Lazio and Sarri have reached an agreement for an early termination of the coach’s contract and the final details of his Biancocelesti exit are set to be finalised on Tuesday evening.
Sarri is currently under contract with Lazio for another two seasons, until the summer of 2028. Former Italy national team head coach Gennaro Gattuso is in line to replace him.
Atalanta, meanwhile, still need to come to some form of arrangement with Palladino. TMW claims that the Atalanta budget is already stretched given that they are still paying off the contract of previous head coach Ivan Juric.
