Diego Simeone: “Of course it’s hugely important. It’s the club’s primary objective, just like Barcelona and Real Madrid’s objective is to become champions.
Our goal is to try to get closer to becoming champions. It’s a difficult season to explain.
The Copa slipped away from us, we competed in the Champions League giving everything and even more. It’s incredibly hard to come so close, and it makes you think you can keep being there, even if it frustrates you.
But I feel good. I remember where we came from and where we are now, and the growth has been enormous. The only way to allow ourselves to keep trying is by working in every area.
The club is now much bigger than the team itself, and that gives us hope.
