Hours after the horrific training ground fight between Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde, Real Madrid have issued an official statement confirming that disciplinary proceedings have been opened against the pair.
“Real Madrid CF announces that, following the events that took place this morning in the first team training session, it has decided to open disciplinary proceedings against our players Federico Valverde and Aurélien Tchouameni,” the statement read.
“The club will announce the resolutions of both cases in due course, once the corresponding internal procedures have been completed.”
This happened to be the second confrontation between Valverde and Tchouameni in the space of 24 hours. And while things did not get physical on Wednesday, the situation got completely out of hand today.
After accusing Tchouameni of leaking the details of Wednesday’s conflict during training, Valverde even made some strong tackles on the French midfielder, with manager Alvaro Arbeloa being unable to get things under control.
Things escalated after the session in the locker room, with Tchouameni landing a punch on the Uruguayan after losing patience with his repeated, relentless accusations.
During the physical altercation, Valverde fell onto a table and suffered a cut on his face, that left him bleeding and discombobulated.
The midfielder was then taken to the hospital for treatment, while Real Madrid held an emergency meeting at Valdebebas led by CEO Jose Angel Sanchez.
Serious consequences are expected for both midfielders, who are likely to miss Sunday’s El Clasico.
