Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana (25) has been offered to Barcelona by the Frenchman’s representatives, as per a report from Sacha Tavolieri.
Since joining Chelsea from Leicester City, the France international has struggled with injury issues, limiting him to 68 club appearances since 2022. However, 34 of those have come this season, suggesting that the injury issues may be behind him.
His future, however, may not lie at Chelsea, Tavolieri understands. Fofana has been offered to Barcelona by the player’s representatives. The La Liga giants are in the market for a left-sided centre-back, but could also target a defender capable of playing on the right of the defence. There have been talks between the Catalan club and the player’s entourage in recent weeks.
Chelsea are not opposed to selling Fofana this summer. However, the London club will not do so for a fee lower than €30m (without bonuses). Barcelona would prefer a loan with a buy option. Chelsea would prefer a permanent deal if Fofana is to leave the club at the end of the season.
