From Italy: Nathan Ake offered to Serie A trio ahead of increasingly likely Manchester City exit
  • Nathan Ake hasn’t started a Premier League game for Man City since Man United loss in January
  • Inter Milan, AC Milan & Juventus named as clubs Dutchman has been offered to
  • Ake would likely need to take pay-cut to move to Italy as clubs wrestle with financial constraints

Nathan Ake has been offered to three different Serie A clubs by his agent as his time at Manchester City looks to be coming to an end.

The defender hasn’t started in the Premier League for Manchester City since the 2-0 derby defeat against Manchester United in January, clouding doubt on his prospects in a backline that witnessed the mid-season addition of Marc Guehi.

Not only does this give the impression that the 31-year-old is no longer in Pep Guardiola’s plans, it also conveys an idea that the club are ready to move on without him as the summer transfer window nears.

Which clubs has Ake been offered to?

The rise of AbdukodirKhusanov has played a part in Ake’s all-but-confirmed exit from the Etihad Stadium – given Guardiola now has the Uzbekistan international, RubenDias and Guehi at his disposal, with JoskoGvardiol also nearing a return to fitness.

As reported by Tuttomercatoweb and relayed by Sport Witness, Ake’s agents have attempted to forge a pathway for his future by offering the defender to three clubs in Italy.

ACMilan, having trying to sign him in the winter, are in the frame alongside Inter Milan and Juventus; WestHam are staying up to date with Ake after he was close to joining the east London club in January.

Can Inter Milan realistically sign Ake this summer?

City would have to lower their valuation of Ake, which is currently €10-15 million, if he is to move to Italy – due to his contract running out in 2027. If they don’t want to do that, a loan deal would almost certainly be the outcome this summer.

There are more barriers to the move, with Italian clubs having to comply and operate on a strict self-imposed wage budget. Milan’s highest earners, for example, ChristopherNkunku and AdrienRabiot, each earn €178,000-a-week.

Ake’s salary at the Etihad Stadium is currently around €190,000 per week, which means he would certainly need to take a pay-cut, albeit a considerably small one, if any Serie A side is to snatch him up.

Could Ake join hands with Manuel Akanji at Inter?

ManuelAkanji is one example whom Ake can look at if he weighs his options up on a move abroad. The Switzerland international joined Inter Milan on a season-long loan from Manchester City at the start of the campaign, with a €15 million buy option that can be activated after Inter clinched the Serie A title with a 2-0 win over Parma at the weekend.

It’s likely that Ake will prefer Inter to play with one of his former teammates but also because they’re the best side in Italy at the moment.

Inter reached the UEFAChampionsLeague final last season but were swept away by Paris Saint-Germain in a 5-0 defeat.
