Northampton Town have triggered a clause to keep captain Jon Guthrie at Sixfields, while Jordan Willis and Tom Eaves are among six players to be released by the club following relegation from League One.

Kyle Edwards, Theo Avery, Josh Tomlinson and Matty Ireland are the others to be let go, while the futures of Michael Jacobs and Jack Vale remain uncertain.

Both Jacobs and Vale both have options on their deals, which the club will allow their yet-to-be-named new manager to trigger if desired.

Meanwhile, Lee Burge, Sam Hoskins, Cameron McGeehan, Nesta Guinness-Walker, James Dadge and Neo Dobson have all been offered new contracts.

While not included on the club's retained list, Northampton's academy player of the season Archie Murray posted on social media over the weekend that he had also been released.
