Roma dominated Fiorentina and won 4-0 thanks to goals from Mancini (13′), Wesley (17′), Hermoso (34′), and Pisilli.
With three games remaining in the league, the Giallorossi are now within one point of Juventus, now fourth in the table.
After the match, Gian Piero Gasperini spoke to Sky Sport.
The Giallorossi coach emphasized the improvement in their attack in the second half of the season: “I think we improved our attacking quality in the second half of the season; we scored and conceded more. Today, too, we scored with different players and some good moves. We’re in good form; we can’t afford to make mistakes, but our morale is high.”
Roma’s coach highlighted the importance of recovering players to being competitive: “I saw the opportunity to recover more players, to have a full squad like in October, November, and mid-December. That way, we have greater potential and can compete.”
Gasperini praised his players: “The team is very strong on a moral level, and they’re also doing well technically. They’re standing on their own two feet; there have never been any problems in this regard, and the responses in recent weeks are clear. There’s great unity between me and them. We’re trying to achieve a goal we’ve always wanted from the start.”
Gasperini hopes to continue counting on the Argentine duo in attack, a unit that has been decimated by injuries: “First of all, we hope to have Dybala and Soulé. Malen wasn’t available before, then they were missing, and so was El Shaarawy. There was a hemorrhage of attackers in the second half of the season, especially considering Dovbyk and Ferguson, who disappeared from the radar. The lads are commendable, and I see them as stronger these days.”
The Giallorossi coach doesn’t want to think about the future: “That’s a later matter. Now we have three games where we know we have no margin for error, we have to give our all and hope others don’t do the same. I’m in the present, there will be a right time to talk about the future.”
The Roma coach on his players’ progress: “This is a team that for long stretches was one of the best defenses in Europe. Then we had a bit of a decline, with some defections in this department as well. We’re rediscovering the team we had in the first few months, with an extra Malen: that makes it easier to get results.”
