It's here! Liverpool make outrageous first transfer offer as summer rebuild begins

Liverpool's first offer ahead of a busy summer transfer window is now in and it's outrageous.

It's already shaping up to be a frantic period for the Reds when the window opens next month.

Let's be honest we though last year was an anomaly with how radically the team was transformed. However, it seems to have just been a precedent.

Mass changes are once again on the way.

Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson are already leaving the club. There will be more departures on the way, too. Curtis Jones has an uncertain future. Joe Gomez could be up for sale. Ibrahima Konate is yet to extend his contract that is expiring at the end of the season.

And who knows what the future holds for Alexis Mac Allister who has had a poor season and who has stalled in negotiations with the club over a new contract.

Everything is so out in the open and one area where investment is badly needed is in the centre-back department.

The club have already agreed a deal for Jeremy Jacquet to join in July, with the expectation that he will provide valuable depth in a position where options are currently thin.

However, Liverpool’s plans for the centre-back role do not stop there, and further additions are firmly on the agenda as part of a wider defensive reshaping.

Ifeanyi Ndukwe is also joining the club this summer and there will be more experience on the way too.

Much of this activity will be driven by what happens to others.

Ibrahima Konate is approaching the final stages of his contract, and with no extension agreed, the possibility of a departure is becoming increasingly real with every passing day.

At the same time, Joe Gomez continues to attract interest from elsewhere. He came close to securing a move to AC Milan last summer, and with his current deal running until 2027, Liverpool could be tempted to sell while his market value remains high.

If they both leave, Jacquet’s arrival will just the beginning, but even if they don't, the Reds already have their sights set on at least one more signing.
