FC Barcelona are always on the lookout for youth talent with potential in a bid to bring them into La Masia and nurture them into future stars.
The Blaugrana signed quite a few young prospects in January, including the likes of Juwensley Onstein, Ajay Tavares, and Hamza Abdelkarim, who arrived on loan but the club want to retain permanently.
Barcelona eye David Sueiro
Now, according to SPORT, Barcelona are working on a move to sign one of the most exciting young talents in Spanish football: David Sueiro, a 16-year-old attacking midfielder from Celta Vigo.
Sueiro is widely seen as the standout prospect from Celta’s academy, a system that continues to grow in reputation.
His development has been steady but quick. He started at EF Silleda, moved to Xuventude Oroso, and joined Celta’s youth setup in the 2023/24 season. Since then, he has progressed through multiple levels.

Despite still being of cadet age, he has already played 21 matches for Juvenil B (U18) and seven for Juvenil A (U19) this season, scoring in both teams and standing out for his technical quality and composure. He has even trained with Celta Fortuna, the club’s reserve side.
Sueiro is also a regular with Spain’s U16 team, which adds to the growing attention around him.
Barcelona are his admirers and wish to sign him. The Blaugrana believe his profile fits perfectly with their long-term vision for La Masia. But they are not alone. Real Madrid and other European clubs are also monitoring his situation closely.
One factor that could help Barça is that Sueiro is represented by Gestifute, the agency of Jorge Mendes, who has a strong relationship with the Catalan club.
Still, the decision will not be simple. At Celta, young players are getting real opportunities, and the club has shown strong trust in its academy. That environment, along with the emotional bond with Vigo, could convince Sueiro to stay.
For now, Barcelona are pushing, but the deal is far from done.
