Artem Dovbyk disappointed in his second season with the Giallorossi, his first under Gian Piero Gasperini.
Last year, despite his difficulties, he scored 17 goals, so a marked improvement was expected under the Grugliasco-born coach, but that didn’t happen. In the first half of the season, the Ukrainian seemed like a fish out of water in the Giallorossi’s lineup when he had opportunities.
In January, after collecting just three goals and two assists in 17 appearances, he was on the verge of being sold, but the injury he suffered against Lecce put a stop to everything.
Dovbyk’s injury has proven more serious than expected, and he hasn’t returned to the field since January 6th. The 1997-born player has been undergoing recovery therapy until now, and he could soon return to the field to help the Giallorossi in their final three matches of the season.
Today, May 4th, the center forward, according to Il Tempo, will fly to Turku, Finland, for a check-up.
The Ukrainian hopes to receive the green light to return to the squad and overcome the tendon problem in his left thigh.
Given the impact of Donyell Malen, he will likely part ways with Roma this summer with the striker, who arrived from Girona.
