Barcelona are preparing to close the chapter on Ansu Fati, with the winger now leaning strongly towards a permanent stay at AS Monaco.
A report from Catalunya Radio reveals that the Spanish forward wants to continue in France, where he has rebuilt his form after a difficult spell at Barcelona.
Ansu’s time at Monaco has turned into a positive story. After struggling with injuries in Spain, he has managed to stay fit and contribute regularly.
With 10 goals in 27 appearances and just a few league matches left, he has shown signs of the player many once believed would lead Barcelona’s attack for years.
That change in form has influenced his thinking. Instead of returning to Barcelona and starting over again, Ansu now prefers stability.
He feels comfortable at Monaco, and more importantly, he is getting consistent minutes – something he lacked during his final phase at Barça.

It must be noted that the loan agreement already included a purchase option worth €11 million, and this is now becoming the most likely outcome.
From the player’s side, he is open to a full transfer and is not prioritising other offers, despite interest from different clubs across Europe.

In fact, the coaching staff and sporting department believe that his current level does not meet the demands required to succeed at the highest level for Barcelona.

Monaco, on their part, see value in keeping him. They have given him a platform, and he has responded with goals and steady performances.
For them, activating the €11 million option represents a low-risk move for a player who is still young and has room to improve.
For Ansu, this transfer would mark the end of a long journey at Barcelona.
Once seen as the natural successor to Lionel Messi, his career took a different path due to injuries and loss of rhythm.
Now, he has a chance to rebuild away from the pressure of Camp Nou.
